Who am I?

Nutshell Learning & Development was set up to support the largest group of businesses in the UK that the larger consultancies seem to ignore: SMEs like you!

I am Les Heath: The owner. I have over 30 years of experience in Learning & Development and held a variety of roles including: Instructor, Materials Developer, Global Strategy lead, Client Partner, Consultant, Learning Operations Manager and more.

I have worked for a diverse mix of businesses, including: global agricultural machinery manufacturer, financial services, global automotive company, training consultancy,  L&D outsourcing company, global logistics, merchant services, training broker and IT support specialist. 

 

 

 

 



Over 30 years in Learning & Development

 

  • Delivered training in 45 countries.
  • Collaborated with US counterpart to develop a global modern learning strategy and a new evaluation process.
  • Managed a team of content developers for a major new product launch.
  • Redesigned company processes for training needs analysis, content development, vendor selection, course booking, course evaluation and trainer observation.
  • Reveloped processes and systems that generated 60% increase in turnover in 2019 and maintained this level in 2020.
  • Managed the adoption of a new Training Management System to improve customer service and provide a “Self-service” functionality.
  • Delivered robust change management solutions with partners and suppliers to respond to the companies need for a learning and development model, bringing pipeline processes to cover the full learning cycle by capturing learning needs, aims, outcomes, current status, desired status and success criteria.  The model created was rolled out internationally developing a synergy and continuity across the company's talent base from inductions to long-term staff development.
  • Rolled out various international L&D programmes including ScrumMaster, ITIL, Diversity & Inclusion, Cultural Awareness...
  • Provided consultancy-based support and executive coaching to CEOs and senior management teams, identifying L&D requirements driven by business strategy, forming collaboration of “think global work local” initiatives which made L&D Meaningful, Assessable and Measurable.
  • Managed client stakeholders and an annual training budget of £1.3 million, which resulted in a £822,000 rise in revenue within a 6 month period.
  • Effectively rebranded L&D and re-engaged with a disenfranchised employee base of over 12,000.
  • Transformed a standardised 2-day PowerPoint induction into a 4-day experiential event focusing on company and personal branding synergies, to maximise engagement and forge “buy in” to the company vision.
  • Created dashboard reports for major clients, monitoring L&D activities and expenditure generating an additional £60,000 of revenue.
